This series of large-scale mixed media works meditates upon the use of language. Newspaper personal ads, manifestos, twitter posts, all seeming shouts into the void, share the same endless optimism and faith in the possibility of shared experience. Our basic desires for the ability to communicate via a shared symbolic order echos the physical lust to consume and merge with other bodies.

The flattened sillhouettes of merged bodies in these works are made up of scraps of these initmate and basic attempts at communication, but it is the negative space, the space outside of the shared space of language which is drawn into sharp relief with a riot of color. The outlines of two men engaged in sexual intercourse, or of a man being gored (penetrate) by a bull, representations of physical intimacy, stand out even when the verbalized longings for intimacy blur and fade.
